Thanks.Ī few observations and questions come to mind. I hope my explanation was easy to understand, kinda hard to explain it. I think that maybe because the evaporator installed is a cheap replacement and the mounting of the temp probe isnt the same as the original one, is there any way to determine the best place to mount the probe? My cars a 1997 sentra by the way. But again the compressor would shut of when it isnt cold enough yet, though not as worse as the first location. I searched for pictures of the original evaporator assembly online and found that the probe is on the lower left so we moved it there. So he mounted it in the middle of the evaporator, but then it wouldnt shut off until the line starts to frost.
He installed it on the upper left side of the evaporator but the compressor would cycle before the system actually gets cold. I had the evaporator replaced recently and i dont think the ac guy knew where exactly to install the temperature probe. I would go with number one if that capability exists, otherwise number two.Hey all, first post here! I need help with the mounting location of the temperature sensor of the evaporator of my car. Set fire to the car, collect the insurance money and start over. Buy a HVAC sub-harness and cut off the temp sensor connector and wire to splice to the existing harness. Buy a HVAC sub-harness and take the dash out to replace it.Ĥ. Locate a used harness or part of same to get the connector and enough wire with it to splice into the existing harness.ģ. Remove the connector from the temp sensor, make a small pick tool to release the lock to remove the connector pins, solder the broken wires to the pins and reinstall in the connector.Ģ. The evaporator temperature sensor does not come with a pigtail.ġ. No separate connectors, connector pins or pigtail harnesses. According to a smart tech and the parts guy at Mercedes/smart, there are no harness repair parts available. You can see in the second photo the harness goes up into never-never land.
That connector is part of the HVAC sub-harness that wraps around the heater-evaporator case. The white part is the connector that disconnects from the sensor.
